Fox & Bones Return to Paso - 1-4pm
5015 Linne Rd.
Paso Robles, CA 93446
805-226-8881 [map]
Price: Free!

Fox & BonesFox and Bones are the modern day Bonnie and Clyde, if Bonnie and Clyde had driven a Volvo and played folk-pop music. Based in Portland, OR, these internationally touring sweethearts aren't your average duo. Rather than simply documenting their experiences in song, Sarah Vitort and Scott Gilmore write from the perspective of quasi-fictional characters. There’s Fox, a down-and-out it girl, and Bones, a rootless orphan bad boy with a heart of gold. The two fall for each other, decide to hit the road, and never look back. The characters, as well as their real-life counterparts, use music as the canvas on which they paint a new life together that defies traditional relationship roles and life goals. Their music is ripe with vocal harmonies that pull at the heartstrings and a complex, at times metaphysical, lyrical landscape. Each element serves their stories of a life lived on the road, in pursuit of a dream that most never have the courage to chase. Live, they give audiences a peek into their world and challenge them to believe in life, adventure, and modern love. https://foxandbones.com/

601 Embarcadero
Morro Bay, CA 93442
(805) 772-8388 [map]
Price: $15

Victoria VoxVictoria Vox returns to Morro Bay, playing a solo set and also introduces us to her duo, Jack & the Vox. https://youtu.be/YmAdsHOQBs8

Vox is an ukulele-toting award-winning songwriter and performer. With a passion for songwriting since she was 10, (first on keyboard, then on guitar), she studied at the Berklee College of Music (Boston, MA) and in 2003, she took up the ukulele as her main accompaniment. Since the release of her first ukulele album in 2006 (... and her Jumping Flea), Vox has been one of the leading songwriters on the ukulele scene (Ukulele Magazine, front cover + feature article). However, she straddles into the folk scene as well, where she has opened for Jackson Browne, Tom Chapin, Leo Kottke, and Cheryl Wheeler. She performs mostly as a one-woman-band, incorporating a loop pedal and bass effect on her ukulele, while taking her own solos (on mouth-trumpet), and cutting through it all with her genuine lyrics and pure voice. https://www.victoriavox.com

Could there be a better moniker than Jack & the Vox, for the husband and wife duo comprising of Jack Maher and Victoria Vox? The two met while studying songwriting at the Berklee College of Music (Boston) in the late 90's, but married in 2016. They are both involved in their own projects: Feed the Kitty and Victoria Vox (solo), however, from time to time, these two join forces. Appearances are somewhat rare - so catch them together when you can! They perform mostly original indie folk music, but they are also known for their covers of Dire Straits and Genesis (on youtube).
